- 1
A mass-produced thing was made in large numbers by machines, so it matches thousands of others and can be sold . Factory clothes, plastic chairs, and most cars are mass-produced. The word often sits before a noun: a mass-produced chair. Next to handmade or one of a kind, it can sound a little cold, as if the object had less soul — though actually it only tells you how it was made, not whether it is useful, ugly, or well designed. This is the form students see most. The verb — what the factory does — is mass-produce.
