1. 1

Masked means wearing a mask — a cover on the face. A masked rider hides who they are. At a masked ball, everyone wears a fancy face cover for fun. The word can stretch: a “masked” feeling is one you hide, and in science a masked taste or smell is one covered by something stronger. As a verb form, masked is also the past of mask: she masked the smell with perfume. During sick seasons, English may use masked for a medical face cover too — though actually in daily Taiwan talk that is usually just 戴口罩, not 蒙面, which sounds more like hiding your name.

    戴面具的;蒙面的。若只是健康上戴口罩,台灣比較常說「戴口罩」,「蒙面」比較像在藏身分。
