Manipulation means controlling or influencing someone or something in a clever, often unfair or dishonest way, to get the result you want. For example, emotional manipulation is when someone makes you feel guilty or scared so you'll do what they want. The word can also be more neutral and technical, like 'data manipulation' (changing or organizing data), but the most common everyday use has that negative, dishonest feeling.
