    A job, deal, or activity is lucrative when it brings in a lot of money. People use it for work and business, not for a small extra bit of pay: a lucrative law career, a lucrative contract, a lucrative side job. It sounds a little formal — you hear it in news and offices more than in chat among friends, who would just say it pays well. It is mostly about the money, not about whether the work is good or kind. A thing can be lucrative and still feel empty, and people sometimes let that hang in the air. It does not mean luxurious (that is about comfort and expensive things) and it does not mean lucky.
