A low-paid job gives only a small amount of money. A low-paid worker is a person who earns that small amount. We say it of work, jobs, and people in those jobs: low-paid staff, low-paid work in shops and care. It does not mean the person is not skilled; many low-paid jobs are hard. The opposite idea is well-paid. News and everyday talk use it when they discuss fairness. It is about the money the job gives, not about a person being “low.”
