1. 1

Low-fat food has only a small amount of fat in it, or is cooked with little fat. Milk, yoghurt, cheese, and meat are often sold as low-fat. Packets use it as a selling word. It is not the same as “no fat” — that is fat-free — and it is not a promise that the food is healthy. Sugar can still be high. A low-fat diet means you choose these foods on purpose. On a packet it sounds official; in the kitchen a person might just say “I used less oil.”
