1. 1

A lounger is a long chair you lie back on, the kind you see beside a pool or on a beach. In British English people often say sun lounger for that exact thing: a reclining seat made for lying in the sun, not for sitting upright at a table. You stretch out on it. Hotels and holiday parks put rows of them out in the morning, and guests move them to catch the light. Though actually, lounger can also mean a person who lounges — someone who lies about and does little — but that use is older and less common now. When a shop, a hotel, or a holiday says lounger, they almost always mean the chair. It is everyday English, a little British in flavour; Americans more often say lounge chair or chaise. The word is informal-to-neutral, the sort of thing you use when you talk about holidays, gardens, and pool sides, not in a serious essay.

組成lounge (to lie or sit in a lazy, relaxed way, or a room for relaxing) + -er (a person or thing that does that). So a lounger is, at root, ‘someone or something that lounges’ — and the ‘something’ became the sun chair.
