A look-in is a real chance to take part, to compete, or to win. In actual speech it is nearly always negative: someone didn’t get a look-in, hadn’t a look-in, won’t have a look-in — meaning they were shut out; they never really had a chance. You hear it about sport, jobs, arguments, and games when one side is so strong the other barely appears. It is informal British (and similar in Australian English); Americans are more likely to say didn’t have a chance or didn’t get a look-in is rarer there. It is a noun, usually after have / get. Do not mix it up with look in on someone (visit them for a short time) or look in a bag (look inside). Those are just the verb look plus in.
「look-in」指真正有機會參與、競爭或得勝。實際上這個字幾乎都用在否定句，常見的說法是「didn't get a look-in」或「won't have a look-in」，意思是被擋在外面，從來沒有真正的機會。你常在體育、工作、爭論和遊戲裡聽到它，當一方強到另一方幾乎露不了臉的時候。
它是英式口語，澳式英文也類似，美式英文比較常說 didn't have a chance。它是名詞，通常接在 have 或 get 後面。另一組 look in 只是動詞加介係詞：順路探望人叫 look in on someone，往袋子裡看叫 look in a bag，那是動作，不是這個名詞。
