    A locality is a small area of a country or a city — this neighbourhood, that town, the land around a station. It is a slightly formal word; in everyday talk people more often say area or this part of town. Police, planners, and scientists like it: the locality of the fire, a plant found only in this locality. Though actually, it does not tell you how big the area is. It might be a few streets or a whole district. What it does tell you is that we are talking about one particular place, not the whole country.
