A liquidizer is a small electric kitchen machine with blades that spin very fast. You put in fruit, soup, or cooked vegetables, close the lid, and it turns them into a drink or a smooth thick liquid. In British English this is the everyday name; in American English the same machine is almost always called a blender. Though actually, a juicer is a different tool: a juicer squeezes the juice out and leaves the pulp behind, while a liquidizer blends the whole piece of fruit, skin sometimes and all, so the drink stays thick. Shops may also say food processor for a bigger bowl that chops and mixes but does not always make things as wet and smooth. A liquidizer is the jug-and-blade kind you use for smoothies and soup. It is a home word, not a laboratory word. You will also see liquidiser with an s — same machine, British spelling.
