The literal launchpad is the flat concrete place a rocket sits on before it goes up. But you will meet the word far more often in its picture meaning: a launchpad is a starting point that sends you on to something bigger. A first job can be a launchpad for a career; a small role in a film can be a launchpad for an actor. The sense you are asked about is a narrower version of this on the internet: a page or site that is not really where the information lives, but the place you start from — a page of links, a portal, a set of doorways into a subject. You go there first, then it sends you where you actually want to go. That kind of page was very common in the earlier years of the web, when people found things through link pages rather than through search, so this use can feel a little dated now; the general "springboard for a career" meaning is very much alive. It is written as one word (launchpad) or two (launch pad), both accepted.
