KY is the two-letter written abbreviation of Kentucky, a state in the east-central United States. You see it on envelopes, on car plates from that state, and in addresses: Louisville, KY; Lexington, KY. It is written English more than spoken English — people say “Kentucky” out loud, not “kay-why”. This line is only that American state. KY can stand for other things in other files, and in Taiwan it is a completely different everyday slang (see the Chinese note), so the same two letters should not be treated as one word.
