Kooky means silly, strange, or a little crazy, in a light way. We use it about people, clothes, ideas, rooms, and films. It is informal. Next to crazy, kooky is usually softer and sometimes even sweet: a kooky neighbour might wear bright socks and tell odd jokes, not scare you. It is the adjective that sits beside the noun kook. Younger people still say it; depending on the speaker it can sound playful or a bit cute and old-fashioned. You can say “a kooky idea” as easily as “a kooky person.”
