Know-how is the practical skill of how to do something — not just facts in a book, but the hands-on knowledge that lets you actually get the job done. A baker’s know-how is in the dough. A company’s know-how might be a way of making a machine that other companies cannot easily copy. The word came from American English in 1838, from the ordinary phrase know how. People use it in business, in engineering, and in everyday talk. It is uncountable: you have know-how; you do not usually say a know-how. Though actually, it is a little more ‘can do’ than knowledge: you can know a lot and still lack the know-how.
know-how 指的是實際做事的本事，不只是書上的知識，而是親手做得出來的那種。例如麵包師傅的 know-how 在麵團裡，公司的 know-how 可能是一種做機器的方法，別家不容易抄。這個字是 1838 年從美式英文來的，原本只是普通的 know how 片語，後來在商界、工程，還有日常談話裡都很常見。
它是不可數名詞，常說 you have know-how，通常不說 a know-how。它比 knowledge 更偏重會做，你可能懂很多，卻還是缺少 know-how。
