    Knitwear is clothing made by — looping yarn into a fabric — rather than by weaving. Jumpers, cardigans, knitted dresses, and many winter tops sit in this group. Shops often have a knitwear rail. Machine-made knitwear counts; it does not have to be made by hand. Though actually, a thin T-shirt is also made with a knit stitch, but people do not usually call that knitwear; they save the word for the thicker, jumper-like things. A woven wool coat is not knitwear even if it keeps you warm.
