1. 1

A kickboxer is a person who does kickboxing: a fight sport like boxing, but you kick with your feet as well as hitting with your hands. The word names the fighter, not the sport. Kickboxers train in a gym, wear gloves, and may fight in a ring — or they may never fight in public, and only use it to get fit. Though actually, people use the word a little loosely: the teacher of a kickboxing class is often called a kickboxer even if they never step into a real match. It is not the same as a boxer, who uses the hands only, and not quite the same as a Thai boxer, though the training can look similar from outside the ropes.
