Keyboarding is putting words and numbers into a computer by pressing the keys. Schools, especially in the United States, often used this as the name of a class: it is typing, though they liked the newer word so it did not sound like an old typewriter lesson. In everyday talk most people just say typing; keyboarding feels a bit more classroom-like or like something you put on a job form. When an asks for good keyboarding skills, it means you can type at a useful speed, and not only with one finger. You can also use it as a verb: she sat keyboarding the names into the list.
