Joviality is that warm, friendly cheer as a thing you can name: his joviality filled the room. It is the noun that sits on jovial, and it points to outgoing, laughing kindness, not to quiet joy and not to happiness in general. In real talk it is rather formal. A book or a careful speaker might use it; a friend would more often say he was in such a good mood, or he was so cheerful. You will meet it more on the page than in the playground.
