    An Israelite is someone of the old people of Israel — the people in the Bible who lived in that land when it was a kingdom with kings, long before the modern country of 1948. You meet the word in history, religion, and the Bible, not in talk about today’s news. It can also be an adjective: Israelite kings, Israelite law, meaning “of that old people or that old land”. It is a fairly formal, word. A person who lives in Israel now is Israeli, not Israelite. Using Israelite for a modern citizen is a real mix-up; it pushes the person back into ancient times.
