    Irresolution is the state of not being able to decide what to do. You look at two paths and stay stuck between them. The word is rather formal and a little old-fashioned; in everyday talk people more often say indecision, or they simply say someone cannot make up their mind. You will meet it in careful writing, about a person, a government, or a group that keeps delaying a choice. Though actually, it is not by itself, and it is not fear by itself — it is the hanging-in-the-middle feeling when a firm decision will not come.
