"Ironman" usually refers to one of two things. Most commonly today, it's the name of an extremely tough long-distance race that combines swimming, biking, and running all in one day — finishing one is seen as an physical achievement. People also use "iron man" (as two words) more generally for someone who seems incredibly tough or able to keep going without getting tired. It's also the name of a famous superhero, a rich inventor who wears a powerful metal suit.
