Inviolability is the quality of being so important that nobody may break it, take it away, or step into it. Diplomats talk about the inviolability of an embassy: police from the host country must not enter. Human-rights writing talks about the inviolability of the person, or of human dignity — a body and a home that must not be violated. It is a heavy, abstract noun, the name of the shield itself. Everyday English would just say this must not be broken. You will almost only see it in legal, political, or philosophical prose. The adjective beside it is inviolable.
