To invalidate something means to make it not valid anymore - to make an official document, a ticket, an argument, or a test result no longer count or no longer be accepted. If a law is invalidated, it is officially cancelled and has no power anymore. If someone invalidates your feelings or opinion, they treat it as if it does not matter or is not true - this is a common way the word is used now, outside of law and paperwork.
