- 1a/ˈɪnuːɪt/Inuit language, art and way of life因紐特(的)
Relating to the Inuit — to the people themselves, or to their language, art, food or way of life.
同一個字放在名詞前面,就變成形容詞。它在說「這個東西屬於因紐特人」或「和因紐特人有關」。像 Inuit art、an Inuit village、Inuit words。字形完全不變,I 一樣大寫。它不會有比較級。因為它不是在說程度,而是在說歸屬。
示範例句 · Example
Inuit art is one of the most popular parts of the museum.
中文翻譯因紐特藝術是這間博物館最受歡迎的部分之一。
Here the same word sits in front of a noun and tells you who or what that noun belongs to: Inuit art, an Inuit village, Inuit words. The form never changes and it keeps the capital I. It does not take -er or -est, because it is not describing an amount of something; it is naming a connection.

- 2n/ˈɪnuːɪt/an Inuit person因紐特人
A person who belongs to one of the Indigenous peoples of the Arctic — the very cold northern parts of Canada, Alaska and .
Inuit 指住在北極一帶的原住民族。主要分布在加拿大北部、阿拉斯加和格陵蘭。這是一個族群的名字,所以 I 要大寫。這個字本來就是他們自己語言裡的「人們」。在那個語言裡,一個人叫 Inuk。兩個人以上才叫 Inuit。不過日常英文也直接用 Inuit 指一個人。複數通常不加 s。所以 three Inuit 比 three Inuits 常見得多。
Inuit is the name of a real group of people, so it is written with a capital I. The word came into English from the Inuit language itself, where it means "the people". In that language, one person is an Inuk, and two or more are Inuit. Everyday English also uses Inuit for one person, which is what this sense shows. For more than one, English usually keeps the same form: three Inuit. The spelling Inuits does exist, but it is rare and many writers avoid it.

用法接近
- 3n/ˈɪnuːɪt/the Inuit as a people因紐特族(整體)
Used as "the Inuit" to talk about these people as one whole group, not about one person.
文法複數:這個意思要用複數形式。
加上 the 之後,講的就不是某個人。它指的是整個族群。文法上當複數看。所以動詞要用 have、live、know。後面不加 s。談歷史、土地、語言、文化時最常用這個形式。比較一下:an Inuit 是一個人,the Inuit 是一整族。
With the in front, the word stops pointing at an individual and points at the group. It behaves as a plural, so the verb is plural too: the Inuit have, the Inuit live. There is no -s on the end. You will meet this form most often in writing about history, land, language and culture, where the topic is the group over a long time rather than any one person.
