Inside one US state, not crossing into another. In American law, news, and business, this word sits beside interstate. An interstate highway runs from one state into the next. An intrastate bus line, phone call, or sale stays inside a single state. That difference matters because US rules for “inside one state” and “across states” are not the same. You almost only see this word in American official writing. In ordinary talk, people just say “inside the state” or they name the state. It is about US states, not Taiwan’s cities or counties. As a noun it can mean a road or service that stays in one state, but the describing word is the one you will meet most.
