Intolerable means too hard, too bad, or too to accept or live with. The pain is intolerable. The wait was intolerable. The way they spoke to her was intolerable. It is a strong, rather formal describing word; in casual talk people often say “I can't stand it” or “it's too much” instead. Though actually, speakers stretch it all the time for things that are only irritating — a slow computer, a hot bus — so you have to feel the strength from the situation, not from the word alone. It is about a thing or a situation you cannot bear, not about a person who will not accept other people.
