Instantaneously means ‘in a moment; with no wait you can notice’. It is the adverb of instantaneous, so it has the same slightly formal, textbook feel. A light can go out instantaneously; a can spread instantaneously online. Though actually, most people say instantly or immediately, and nobody looks under-educated for it. This longer word shows up when a writer wants to sound precise, or a little dramatic. In science, it can mean ‘at that exact instant’, not merely ‘very soon’. Do not stretch it to mean ‘very quickly but after a while’ — if you had to wait, instantly is already a bit of a fib, and instantaneously is a bigger one.
