An inquirer is a person who asks — someone looking for information, answers, or the truth. The asking underneath is inquire (American spelling) or enquire (often British): to ask someone for information. So an inquirer is simply the one who does that asking. Offices, newspapers, and official notices still use it: callers and other inquirers should… A famous American paper is even called The Inquirer. Though actually, in daily speech we usually say “someone asking,” “a caller,” or “the person who asked,” not inquirer, which sounds a little official or old-fashioned.
