An innovator is the person who brings in changes and new ideas. You can be an innovator in a lab, a kitchen, or a classroom; the word praises someone for not copying the old method. From Late Latin innovator, from innovo; equivalent to innovate + -or (the person who does the verb). An inventor makes a new thing; an innovator changes the way people do something. They overlap, but they are not the same job title.
