An inkwell is a small pot for ink that sits in a hole in a desk, so the ink does not fall over easily. You dip an old pen into it. Modern students almost never use one; you will meet the word in old school stories and in museums. Though actually, well here is the deep-hole sense, like a well for water, not the word for “good.” A bottle of ink in a bag is just an ink bottle, not an inkwell, unless it is made to sit in that desk hole.
