An infusion is a drink you make by putting something like tea leaves, herbs, or fruit in hot water and letting it sit, so the water takes in the taste. Doctors also use the word for a way of giving medicine: a needle puts liquid medicine slowly into a person's blood, drop by drop, over a long time — this is common in hospitals. People also use 'infusion' when a company or project suddenly gets a big new amount of money, like 'an infusion of cash' — money that comes in and gives new life to something.
醫療上常說「輸液」或「點滴」;資金方面常說「挹注」。
組成in- (into) + fuse (to pour) + -ion (turns it into a noun). It comes from the Latin word for 'pour into.'
