    Infighting is when people in the same group argue, or compete in an way — a party, a company, a family, a team. The fight is inside, not against an outside enemy. News writers love this word for : infighting in the party. It suggests the group is hurting itself. Though actually, boxers also use infighting for fighting very close, almost body to body; that is an older, more literal picture, and the “inside the group” meaning grew from the idea of fighting in close. In ordinary news and school English, the group-arguing sense is the one you will meet.
