    Inessentials are the things you do not need — extras, extras, comforts, and small buys that life still goes on without. People talk about cutting the inessentials when money is tight, or packing only what matters and leaving the inessentials at home. It is the usual noun form; the singular inessential exists, but the plural is what you will meet. Fairly formal or careful; in shops and at home people say extras, things we don't need, or 非必要的東西. Though actually, one person's inessentials are another person's must-haves, so the word often hides a judgment about what ought to matter.
