Inculcation is the act or the process of fixing ideas, rules, or habits in someone’s mind so they last. You hear it in writing about school, religion, and politics, not in everyday chat. A report might talk about the inculcation of discipline. Though actually, this noun is even less common than the verb. Many native speakers know “inculcate” a little and almost never say “inculcation.” When they do, it often sounds like a textbook or a speech. The meaning is the same job as the verb, just named as a thing: not “they inculcate respect,” but “the inculcation of respect.”
