An inconstant lover or friend does not stay true. Their feelings move. They may be warm one month and gone the next, or they may go to someone else. Like , this is a word you find in books more than in the street. Everyday English prefers or not loyal. Older writers used it a great deal about lovers. Though actually, people can also call someone inconstant just because they keep changing plans or tastes — but here the word is about not being faithful in love or friendship.
組成From Middle English inconstant, from Middle French inconstant and Latin incōnstāns: in- (“not”) plus the root behind constant (“standing firm”).
