- 1
A rule, statement, or question that is inapplicable does not fit this situation — you cannot use it here. Forms and official papers often have a box for “inapplicable” (or N/A, “not applicable”). It is a formal, office-and-exam word. Though actually, it is not the same as inappropriate: inappropriate means not proper or not polite; inapplicable means the rule simply does not apply. A dress code can be inappropriate for a wedding; a tax rule can be inapplicable if you do not earn that kind of money. Impossible is different again: it means something cannot happen.
不適用的
組成in- (“not”) + applicable (“able to be applied”). Applicable comes from apply, “to use a rule on a case.”
同家族的字
- applicablethe opposite: able to be used in this situation
- applythe verb: to use a rule, or to put something on
- applicationthe act of applying, or a form you fill in
