    To become better than before, or to make something better than it was.

    文法及物、不及物兩種都可以：後面可以接受詞，也可以不接。

    「improve」是「變得更好」最常用的動詞，兩種用法都有：可以「把某個東西變好」（improve your English），也可以是某個東西「自己變好」（her health is improving）。它不是「修好壞掉的東西」（那是 fix），而是「本來就還可以，再往上提升」。中文常譯「改善」「進步」。

You can picture 'improve' as a line moving upward from worse toward better — something that was at one level gets lifted to a higher one. It works both ways: you can lift the thing yourself (improve your English), or the thing can rise on its own (the weather improved).

可以想成「一條往上走的線」：本來在某個水準的東西，被抬到更高的位置，從差變好。它兩邊都通——你可以親手把它抬上去（improve your English，把英文變好），東西也可以自己往上爬（the weather improved，天氣轉好）。
