An impersonator is someone who copies the way another person looks, speaks, and moves, usually as a show. An Elvis impersonator is the classic picture: the hair, the voice, the clothes, on a stage. People hire impersonators for parties and TV. Though actually, the verb impersonate can also mean pretending to be someone in order to trick people — that can be a crime — but impersonator in ordinary English almost always means the performer. And though many words in this set start with im- meaning “not,” this im- is the “into” kind: you step into another person. You do not “un-person” them.
