When you speak or act imperiously, you give orders and you expect people to obey, and you sound too proud — as if you stand above them. It is not only “strict.” Strict can still be fair. Imperiously has a looking-down feel: the person talks as if the room belongs to them. You will mostly meet it in stories and in writing about bosses, kings, or anyone with power; it is a little formal, and it is almost never praise. Though actually, it is not the same as imperial. Imperial is about empires and emperors. Imperiously is about that proud, ordering tone.
