A person, group, or country that supports imperialism — the policy of a powerful country taking control of other lands or peoples, often for their resources or strategic position. As an adjective, it describes anything connected to this policy (imperialist ambitions). It's almost always used to criticize, not to praise — countries rarely call their own actions 'imperialist.'
