    If something is immutable, it never changes, or it cannot be changed. An immutable fact stays true; people also speak of immutable laws — rules nothing can . It is a fairly formal adjective; the everyday way is 'unchangeable' or 'that never changes'. Though actually, we often put it on things that are only very hard to change, not truly impossible: an immutable habit, for example. In computer science, an immutable object is one the program must not alter once it is made. That is a specialist use, but you will see it a lot if you read about coding.
