An ideology一種意識型態 is a fairly complete set of beliefs是一整套相當完整的信念,that a political or economic system sits on一個政治或經濟制度立足其上——or或者 that quietly steers how people behave悄悄引導人們的行為。Capitalism and communism資本主義和共產主義 are the textbook examples是教科書上的例子,though actually不過其實 people人們 also talk about the ideology of a company or a school也會談到一家公司或一間學校的「意識型態」,when they mean意思是指 its deep, not-always-spoken rules它深層、不見得會說出口的規則。
The word was borrowed from French idéologie, coined in 1796 by Antoine Destutt de Tracy, who first meant something more like “the science of ideas”. It is related to the English word idea, but it was not built from that English word; they share older roots.
The word這個詞 was borrowed from French idéologie是從法文 idéologie 借來的,coined in 1796 by Antoine Destutt de Tracy由 Antoine Destutt de Tracy 在1796年創造,who他 first meant最初的意思比較接近 something more like "the science of ideas"「觀念的科學」。It它 is related to the English word idea跟英文的 idea 有關係,but但 it was not built from that English word不是從那個英文字造出來的;they share older roots它們有更早的共同字根。
Napoleon later used a related word as an insult for his opponents, and that helped push ideology toward today’s sense: a doctrine, a package of beliefs, not a calm study. In ordinary talk it can sound heavy; in news and essays it is everywhere.
Napoleon拿破崙 later後來 used a related word用了一個相關的詞,as an insult當作罵人話,for his opponents罵他的政敵,and而 that helped push ideology toward today's sense這讓 ideology 這個詞被推向今天的意思:a doctrine一種教條,a package of beliefs一整套信念,not a calm study不是冷靜的研究。In ordinary talk在日常對話裡,it它 can sound heavy可能聽起來很沉重;in news and essays在新聞和文章裡,it它 is everywhere則到處都是。
組成Borrowed from French idéologie, from idéo- + -logie — the same pieces as English ideo- (ideas) + -logy (a body of thought). Coined 1796. Cognate with idea, but not derived from the English word idea.
