A hoodie is a soft jacket or sweatshirt with a hood attached, the kind you pull over your head. It usually has a big pocket at the front too. It's very casual clothing — students, teenagers, and people relaxing at home wear hoodies all the time, but you would never wear one to a job interview or a wedding. Sometimes older adults use the word 'hoodie' to mean the PERSON wearing a hoodie, especially in news stories, and that use can sound a little suspicious or negative, as if the person is up to no good — that's not fair, but it's a real pattern in how the word gets used.
