A honeypot, in the sense you will meet most in ordinary English, is something — often a place — that draws a crowd, the way a pot of honey draws bees. A beach that is a tourist honeypot is packed because people cannot resist it. The word can be a little sour: the place is so attractive it is overcrowded. That is the living figurative use. Literally, a honeypot is also a pot for honey, but that reading is the plain object, not the interesting one. In computer security, a honeypot is a trap set to attract attackers; that is specialist talk, not everyday speech. An older use for an attractive person is dated, and you need not learn it as current. The picture underneath all of this is the same: sweetness that pulls things in.
組成honey + pot, from an old compound for a pot of honey; the crowd-drawing sense is a picture from that.
