Honduran is not the country. It is the word for a person from Honduras, and the adjective for things of that country: a Honduran writer, Honduran coffee, the Honduran coast. Honduras itself is a country in Central America, sitting between Guatemala and Nicaragua — and, though the short map-line often skips it, El Salvador too. The Caribbean is to the north; a smaller Pacific shore lies to the south. The capital is Tegucigalpa. About eight to nine million people live there; a 2014 count put it a little over eight million. English keeps the two words apart: Honduras for the place, Honduran for the people and the adjective. That pattern is the usual one (Mexico / Mexican), and mixing them is the mistake students make, not a real extra meaning of Honduran.
