Homeworking is the practice of doing your paid job in your own house instead of going out to an office or factory. It names the arrangement, not the person — the person is a homeworker. Companies talk about a homeworking policy; newspapers talk about the rise of homeworking. Like homeworker, the word is more British than American, and it used to bring to mind piecework done at home. Now it often just means working from home, though it still sounds a little more official than that everyday phrase. You can say “homeworking has become common,” but not “he is a homeworking.”
