A homebody is a person who likes being at home and is happy to stay in rather than go out. A homebody would rather read, cook, or watch a film on the sofa than go to a loud party. It is informal and usually kind — even a little fond — though people sometimes tease a friend with it. It does not mean the person never leaves the house; it means home is where they feel most like themselves. Body here just means “person,” the same idea as in somebody.
