A high-top is a sports shoe that comes up over the ankle. People very often say high-tops, because shoes come in a pair. Basketball players like them: the extra bit around the ankle can feel steadier when you jump and land — though actually a lot of people wear them just because they like the look, not only for sport. The short kind that stops below the ankle is a low-top. You can put high-top in front of another word: high-top sneakers, high-top trainers. Everyday English, not fancy.
high-top 是一種高到蓋過腳踝的運動鞋，大家常說複數 high-tops，因為鞋子是成雙的。籃球員常穿它，腳踝的包覆感讓跳起來和落地時比較穩，不過很多人也只是喜歡它的樣子。不蓋過腳踝的短款則叫 low-top。
