Herakles is the Greek name for the hero English speakers usually call Hercules. Same person: the super-strong son of Zeus who had to finish the twelve famous labours — fighting the Nemean lion, cleaning the huge stables, and the rest. Greek stories say Herakles; Roman stories, and most English cartoons, say Hercules. You will see three spellings: Herakles, closer to the Greek sound; Heracles, a common school spelling; and Hercules, the Latin name most people recognise. They are not three different men. The Greek name is built from , the goddess, and a piece meaning glory — something like “glory of ”. That is a sharp twist, because in the stories hated him and made his life hard. The name does not mean she was kind to him.

    赫拉克勒斯(希臘名;日常英語多說 Hercules,台灣也常譯作海克力斯)。不是另一個人。
