A hell-hole is a place that feels awful to stay in — dirty, ugly, dangerous, too small, or just miserable. People use this strong, informal word about a prison, a broken-down town, a badly run workplace, or any spot they hate. You would not put it in a careful school report unless you were repeating someone else’s words. Though actually, speakers often stretch it: a hot, noisy classroom can be “a hell-hole” even when nothing truly terrible is happening. It is a complaint, not a careful description.
「hell-hole」指讓人待起來很糟的地方，可能很髒、很醜、很危險、太小，或單純就是讓人痛苦。人們會用來形容監獄、破舊的小鎮，或管理很差的工作場所。它是強烈、口語的說法。
